The PJCC offers a wide variety of specialty fitness classes. Most group exercise classes in the Health & Fitness Complex are complimentary with Center Membership, with the exception of Specialty Series or Master Classes, for which there is a fee, indicated with a ($).

Mastering the Core

Saturday, October 28 • 10:15 - 11:45 am • Board Room

Learn how to activate, synchronize and brace the muscles and structures of the core with instructor Christian Luera.

The core is made up of more than just the abs. It is a complex system of muscles that when working together properly allow safe and effective performance and function.

If you want to move better, feel better, and improve your performance, attend this workshop, which is appropriate for all levels.

What you can expect to get out of this workshop:

  • Learn how to create stability in any position
  • Learn to identify and correct your own movement faults
  • Learn the techniques involved in creating a stable core
  • Improve your performance in any class you attend
  • Set a good foundation for making your own progress
  • Learn how dysfunction in one area leads to more dysfunction
  • Improve your posture and know what proper posture looks like
  • Increase your confidence 
  • Know when to say when

About the Instructor

Christian Luera is a master trainer and has a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and holds a certification in TRX and exercise nutrition.

The PJCC is proud to offer The Pink Ribbon Program, a postoperative workout, open to all breast cancer survivors whether surgery was eight weeks or 20 years ago, designed to enhance recovery for breast cancer patients.

HITT (High Intensity Team Training)

This bootcamp-style class features a variety of movement patterns, including running, jumping, strength and endurance work, core training, balance and agility challenges that will get you in the best shape of your life. You will never know what to expect from this high intensity class; you will be interested and motivated.

WOW (Women On Weights)

Research shows that women need weight training to maintain bone density as they age. Women on Weights is a small group strength training program designed specifically to teach women the basic fundamentals of strength training and its benefits.

Barre Above

Class begins October 5, 2017!

Barre Above blends the latest exercise science with the Principals of Lotte Burke, a method delivering a fusion of Ballet, Pilates, Yoga, and Strength Training in each workout.

Barre Above is designed for a wide range of fitness levels, ages and bodies, with progression so those new to fitness feel successful their first time, and seasoned Barre enthusiasts will always feel challenged.
