Testimonials
Read what Michael's clients say about him:
"I really enjoy Michael’s holistic approach incorporating mind, body and spirit. He continues to expand out repertoire of skill building according to my changing needs. Michael is not only a trainer, he’s an educator. He’s taught me how to appreciate the importance of building strength from the core of the body and how to gradually add weights to my program. He teaches me practical exercises I can do at home which adds continuity to our workout. Most recently we have begun to incorporate Qi Gong into my program. Michael is an outstanding trainer. He is skilled knowledgeable, enormously patient and caring, and has a crazy sense of humor which I love. Michael’s presence makes me want to come to the PJCC and work out". – Sheryl B.
"Michael is extremely versatile and knowledgeable in the different aspects of training. He was able to adjust the workout easily given the variances in my ability to perform that day. Not only was he able to identify the root of my injuries (most of which are no longer a bother) but he made correcting the way I approach exercising very palatable for me to grasp. Not only did he help me overcome my immediate dilemma, but he also set a platform that I continue to work from". – Sarah H.
"Michael knows his stuff and is an excellent motivator. Michael’s holistic approach to training is different. He is concerned for your whole well being. He even offers advice on nutrition, posture and spiritual wellness. He enjoys what he does and it shows in his enthusiasm and knowledge. Michael helps you look and feel your best. Above all he really cares about his clients". – Lorie C.
"He is so caring and helpful – and always aware to make sure I don’t “over do” and watches so we move correctly. I love watching him with my husband and how my husband responds". – Phyllis G.
"Michael is a very knowledgeable and serious trainer that provides exceptional understanding and response to my fitness needs. He is considerate and listens very well to my goals and concerns. His programs push my strength & endurance and always gives me more energy during the rest of my day. I look forward to, and enjoy our friendly and humorous conversation in each training session". – Tom H.
"He is very knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. He worked with both of my sons and related well with them. He was kind to my oldest son when he was in the hospital. He has become a part of the family". – Mindy Z.
Get to Know Michael
“A Bay Area native, I became involved in sports at a very early age, enjoying sports such as football, track & field, baseball, swimming, diving and wrestling. I’m a graduate of Los Gatos High School where I was also a lifeguard and taught swimming to all ages. It was very rewarding to see the joy in the faces of my students as their swimming skills improved with each lesson. That’s how I knew that I wanted to teach and coach people.
After high school, I continued training, conditioning and studying the Western model of nutrition, health and fitness. I also found myself drawn to the Eastern traditions of fitness and health and started studying the practices of mind-body and spirit. When I moved to Oahu, Hawaii, I coached basketball and flag football for 5th and 6th graders. My mind-body and spirit approach brought great joy and balance to the children. When I started working in a gym, helping people exercise correctly, again I recognized the great potential every person has when given the right information.
My passion for personal training is a direct result of the many clients and athletes I have coached throughout the years. They have illustrated their willingness to attain optimal levels of health and fitness regardless of the circumstances. All people share a common thread: to find happiness and enjoy good health. I take great pride in my diverse range of clients and try to help them attain their highest level of well-being. Each person is unique and I realize that their needs are varied and will change and evolve as we work together.
I am fully committed to each and every client. I have the utmost respect in assessing, developing and implementing their own unique program that will allow them to reach their goals with challenges, joy and fun. I enable each client in a user-friendly manner so that they can embark on their journey through life and recognize their potential. As each day is different, so is each client. Their needs are constantly changing and addressing them in a respectful, humorous, and empowering manner is my greatness joy.”
